Joe Russell Davenport Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Joe Russell Davenport, age 70, passed away peacefully , November 13, 2021, in San Antonio, Texas. The last several years Joe endured many heart problems and other health issues. He would surprise the family and despite the odds, always rallied each time. In recent months, Joe faced some new health challenges that left him weak and tired. He was born in Del Rio, Texas, March 25,1951 to Joe Charles and Marjorie Davenport. Joe is survived by his wife: Linda Stoner Davenport of Ohio, two sons, David Blake Davenport of New Braunfels and Stephen Paul Davenport of San Antonio, brother: Clayton Alan Davenport and wife Sherry of Garden Ridge, father-in-law Phil Stoner, mother-in-law Sandy Stoner of Ohio, sister-in-law Cindy Estep, bother-in-law Charles Estep of Ohio, nephew Stuart Alan Davenport and wife Ginger of San Antonio, niece Shelly Davenport Schreader and husband Craig of Garden Ridge and niece and nephews Brittnee and Kyle Crawford and Preston Estep of Ohio, great niece Cassidy Anne Costa of San Antonio, his uncle Bee Stone and wife Nancy, aunts Gloria Brandt, Joyce Stone and Jerry Stone and numerous cousins. Joe Russell loved family leaving his survivors with many cherished memories. Preceding him in death were his parents, Joe Charles Davenport and Marjorie Stone Davenport, grandparents Kirby and Clara Stone and Earl and Flossie Davenport, uncles Warner Stone, Don Stone, Bob Davenport and Walter Davenport. Joe was an avid reader of history and worked as a coordinator for the John Birch Society for several years. Joe Russell worked in the insurance field for many years before a heart attack caused his heath to decline. He moved to Del Rio and spent several years working in sporting goods in the family business at Russell Hardware. Joe left too soon, but his humor and love of family will always be remembered. His health gave him many hard and difficult challenges, but he never complained. Joe Russell always had a smile and a corny joke to share with who ever he could corner. His wit, humor and effervescence for life will be forever missed. A special thank you and appreciation to Drs. Veronica and Tony Cadena. A heartfelt thank you to Dania Gonzalez for the love, care and respect she showed Joe during the last several months. She went above and beyond taking care of Joe and making sure all of Linda’s needs were met.--
