As an infant, her family moved to Langtry where she grew up. She met the love of her life, Miguel while attending high school in Comstock. They were married in 1945 and were blessed with eight children, whom she was devoted to raising. Lilia found time to serve as Den Mother for the Cub Scouts of America, as she enjoyed participating in her children’s extracurricular activities. She was a generous host who welcomed everyone into her home with open arms. She worked at Comstock ISD as an instructional aide for 20 years. While with Comstock ISD, she held different offices for the Parent Teacher Organization. She was also passionate about coordinating efforts for the March of Dimes. The impact she had on many was evident, as many of her former students always expressed their gratitude for all she did. Lilia had a love for music and was an avid dancer and enjoyed playing the piano, especially while accompanying her father. She cultivated many deep and lasting friendships, throughout her years while living in Comstock and Del Rio. Lilia was a member of Mary Queen of the Universe Church in Comstock where she served as a lector and religious educator, and later a member of Sacred Heart Church in Del Rio, TX. She was a devout Catholic and raised her children to live in the Catholic faith. As the matriarch of her family she lived her religion and loved with her heart and hands. Family, faith and friends were most important in her life. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone who was blessed to know her. The Castellano family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Veronica Cadena, Judith Trevino, and the staff of Superior Home Health for the kindness, loving care and friendship so freely given to Lilia. Her family also extends gratitude beyond measure to Rev. Pius Ezeigbo who gave her so much love. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022 from 5:00 - 9:00 pm at G. W.
