Marie Vernor Harrison

October 4, 1931 - April 10, 2022

Marie V. Harrison (Pannell) passed away peacefully at the Amistad Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Uvalde, Texas, with family by her side on Sunday April 10, 2022. She was born in Camp Wood, Texas on Oct 4, 1931. Shortly after WWII, and after marrying the first love of her life, Zack Pannell, Marie moved to Del Rio, Texas. They were married for 42 years until his passing in 1989. In 1999, Marie met and fell in love with Harry Harrison of Del Rio, Texas. They were married from 1999 until his passing in 2002. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many in the Del Rio Community. A woman of strong christian faith, she attended First Baptist Church and First Christian Church until moving to Uvalde, Texas in 2020. Marie worked at the Guarantee Department store for most of her adult life and was an active member of the community to include the Elks Lodge and the Del Rio Rotary Club. Marie or "Mamee" as she was known to students was an avid supporter of the TX-66 AFJROTC Program at Del Rio High School, spending many years serving as a sponsor, chaperone, and mentor to the men and women growing in the program. She attended countless drill competitions, leadership schools, parades, performances, and academic trips. Marie is preceded in death by her first husband Zack Pannell, second husband, Harry Harrison, granddaughter, Deena Marie Billings, brother, George Vernor of Brackettvile, Texas, and sister and brother-in-law, Madeline and Bill Marlin of Uvalde, Texas. She is survived by her daughter, Mae Dell Billings, sister, Virginia Gleason, grandson and grandaughter-in-law, Henry and Kim Billings, three great-grandchildren and beloved nieces and nephews.
