Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Kelly Zuberbueler

September 7, 1931 - January 1, 2018

Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Kelly Zuberbueler passed away peacefully Monday, January 1, 2018 in San Antonio at the age of 86. She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on September 7, 1931 to Patrick William Kelly, Sr. and Mary Ethel Kelley Kelly. Raised in Comstock, Texas, she attended grade school in Comstock and high school at Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio, when it was a boarding school for young ladies. She continued her education at Our Lady of the Lake College, graduating in 1952 with a degree in Home Economics. Betty married John U. Zuberbueler at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Del Rio, Texas on July 15, 1954. Together they raised seven children. She is survived by her children, Emil of Alexandria, VA; Bill and his wife Jennie of Comstock, TX; Stephen and his wife Freida of Big Lake, TX; Sr. Mary Anne, O.P. of Nashville, TN; Patrick and his wife Amy of San Antonio, TX and Fr. Matthew of Falls Church, VA; daughter-in-law, Beth of Wimberley; grandchildren Bryan, Zane and Brooke of Wimberley, Margaret, William, John and Helen of Comstock, TX; great grandson, John Michael of Alpine, TX; sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Kelly of Comstock and brother-in-law, Hank Skehan of San Angelo, TX; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, John; son, John, Jr. and grandson, Travis, as well as brothers, John H. Kelly, Sr., Patrick W. Kelly, Jr. and twin brother, Robert H. Kelly, Sr. Special thanks and appreciation to Pam Rucker for her loving care for Betty for many years in Comstock and San Antonio, and to the staff and nurses of Memory Care of Westover Hills for their attentive and devoted care. Visitation and gathering will begin Wednesday, January 3, 2018, starting at 4:00 p.m. at St. Anthony Mary Claret Catholic Church, 6150 Roft Road, San Antonio, TX 78253; with the Holy Rosary recited at 5:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will immediately follow the Rosary that evening. The Holy Rosary will also be recited on Thursday, January 4, 2018 with visitation from 5-9:00P.M, at 7:00 p.m. at G.W. Cox Memorial Funeral Home in Del Rio, TX. Mass of the Resurrection will be Friday, January 5, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Del Rio. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Funeral arrangements with G. W.
