Rose Mary Ellen Slubar, 85, went to be with the Lord on February 15, 2022. She was greeted in heaven by both her parents Russell and Sarah Hoover, her sisters June Dodson and Linda Ramsey, her son Dennis “Dusty” Slubar Jr., and her grandson Bryan Slubar. Rose Mary is survived by her husband of 64 years Dennis Slubar Sr., brother Ben Hoover, her children Dawn Shewbart, Richard Slubar, Dustin Slubar and wife Emily Slubar, and Rose Garza and husband Mario Garza, her grandchildren Joseph, Matthew, Brittany, Austin, Bryce, and Tanner, and her 8 great-grandchildren. Rose Mary was born at Fort Clark Springs on October 24, 1936. A lifelong resident of Kinney County, Rose Mary led a life of service to her community. She served 38 years on the Kinney County Memorial Clinic Committee, 37 years with the United Medical Center (UMC), 25 years with the Kinney County Volunteer EMS, 9 years and 6 months as the Kinney County Justice of the Peace, 9 years on the Brackett ISD School Board and 4 years as Kinney County Commissioner. She was also credited as being the “mother" of the K.C. Volunteer Ambulance. In 2018, she was honored for her lifetime of service by the Kinney County EMS and Volunteer Fire Department. A viewing for Rose Mary Slubar will be held on Monday, February 21, 2022, from 5 PM - 7 PM at G. W. Cox Memorial Funeral Home in Del Rio. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at 2:00 PM at St. Mary Magdalene's Catholic Church in Brackettville, TX followed by a burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Brackettville. The family will host a reception immediately following at the St. Mary Magdalene’s Catholic Church Auxiliary Building.
